As a rule (of green thumb),
Southern California lawns should be watered every other day between the
hours of 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. for periods of from 8 to 15 minutes per sprinkler
station.
All sprinkler systems are different, and deliver varied amounts
of water. The goal for watering is to put down approximately one-half inch
of water to the entire lawn surface during each watering.
